Policy

Commitment

By registering at Merrick Dance Centre, you understand that our program runs from September through early June.

Classes must have a minimum of 5 students in order to run. Merrick Dance Centre will do all that it can to reschedule the class or find an appropriate level/class option

Tuition and Payments

  • First months tuition, last months tuition and registration fee are due at registration in order to hold your dancer's place in class.
  • Tuition is due on the first class of each month. Failure to pay by the 15th will result in a $10 late fee added to your account per each month. Tuition that is more than 2 months past due will result in dancer's not being able to participate in class
  • Last months tuition is not refundable for classes that are dropped after the first 4 weeks of classes
  • Monthly payments are the same no matter how many weeks or classes there are in a month. Total annual tuition is just broken down into monthly installments for your convenience
  • A $10 credit (toward the following month's tuition) will be given to families who have referred a new, registered student to Merrick Dance Centre

Absences/Make-up Policy

Absences will not be deducted from tuition or costume balances. There are no refunds for missed classes. You are welcome to take a make-up class in a class of the same level or similar style. Any make-up classes must be taken by April 1st and can not be carried over.

Holidays/Snow Days/Studio Closures

We generally follow the Merrick Public Schools closings and calendar. When in doubt, check our outgoing message, Facebook, Instagram and website an hour before class to stay updated about closings. There are no refunds or credits for absences, weather-related cancellations or the necessity to move to online classes.

Recital

Our annual recital is usually held in early June. Dress rehearsals are held at the theater prior to the recital. Dates for rehearsals and the show will be posted on the website as well as in the studio. Children are required to attend dress rehearsal to perform in the recital

Costumes

A costume deposit will be due by November 15th. Costumes can not be cancelled and therefore are not refundable. Costume balance will be due by March 15th. Costumes will not be released if there is an outstanding balance

Dress Code

Appropriate attire and shoes are required for all classes. Hair must be pulled back.

Dropped Class Policy

If you wish to withdraw from classes, a written notice (letter or email) must be given 2 weeks before the 1st of the month. Failure to do so will result in following months payment being due. There will be no refunds given for payments already made
